At the WPE, the application of proton therapy for a particularly wide range of indications should be possible in the future – and also for a large number of patients. This allows for the latest technology and equipment of the proton therapy centre. In three of the four future treatment rooms, the beam delivery to the patient can be rotated so that our teams can select the individual optimal beam direction. The fourth treatment room will be in operation at the end of 2015 and will be equipped with a horizontal beam guidance and an eye therapy course. In addition to networking, research and education is of particular importance because of our connection to the University Hospital Essen and the West German Cancer Centre (WTZ) at the University Hospital Essen.
By offering all possible technical applications of proton therapy and advanced image guidance and by being integrated in a clinical, university environment, the WPE maintains a high quality standard.
